Introduction: These two laptops are said to be the best in the world. Which one is better? The Dell XPS 13 inch or the MacBook 13 inch. In this review you will be finding out about the XPS 13 inch and the MacBook 13 inch, then you can decide which one is the winner.
Design: Let’s start off with the XPS 13, Dell made noticeable changes to this laptop, the XPS 13 is lighter and thinner than its 2017 version. The most noticeable design is the new Rose Gold on Alpine color option. The new keyboard deck has a crystalline silica material that has a white color woven into it like a fabric, in nine layers. This is the first time woven glass has been woven into a laptop. Its base also has a titanium oxide coating which stronger stain resistance and a nice shine to it. The 13 inch MacBook has a premium design to it and an iPhone inspired space grey colour, or a classic silver finish. Its aluminum body is as beautiful as ever. The keyboard is full sized and typing on it is pleasant. The keys also feel a little spongier than the previous MacBook. The trackpad is large and full of functionality. It is very hard to choose which one has a better design but in my opinion, I think the MacBook 13 inch has a better design and quality build.
Performance: The MacBook is one of the best performing laptops in the world let’s see the specifications of this laptop. I will start off with the MacBook’s processor, it has a 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz and 3MB shared L3 cache. While some of might think this is bad in my experience I think this is pretty good for a laptop. This laptop also has 8GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory. Its storage is 128GB PCle-based SSD which is configurable to 256GB or 512GB SSD. The MacBook’s camera is not the best (720p FaceTime HD camera). Now we will have a look at the XPS 13’s specs. The CPU for this laptop is a 1.8GHz Intel Core i7-8550U (quad-core, 8MB cache, up to 4.0GHz) with these types of processors it’s hard to know which one is better. The XPS 13 has a 16GB DDR4 (2133MHz) which is better than the MacBook’s Ram. The storage is a 1TB PCIe SSD. This laptop’s camera is also bad (720p HD camera). The Graphics for it is Intel UHD Graphics 620. I will let you decide who the winner of this one is.
Conclusion and Convenience: Now, finally we are up to the Conclusion and convenience. I don’t recommend you to play hard-core games on these laptops, but they are good performing in some games e.g. CS: GO. Both of these laptops are good at video editing and 3D designing. I will be listing the pros and cons of these two machines, you decide the winner. XPS 13 pros: • Impressive performance • Beautiful optional 4K display • Centered IR Webcam • Gorgeous new design • Long battery life with 1080p screen XPS 13 cons: • Touchscreen isn’t standard • White option is pricy • Need to slightly move webcam • Steeper starting price MacBook 13 inch pros: • Outstanding design and build quality • Pro-quality screen • Super-fast SSD • Smooth MacOS • Spacious trackpad MacBook 13 inch cons: • Too expensive • Battery is glued in place in all models • No SD card slot • No MagSafe
